Level 3 Sex Offender Jason Sims Notified in Yuma Community

YUMA, Arizona — The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office announced on May 1, 2025, that Jason Sims, a 54-year-old Level 3 sex offender, is now residing at South Walnut Avenue and East 10th Street in Yuma, Arizona, though he is currently homeless. This notification, mandated by A.R.S. 13-3825, aims to inform the community about Sims, who poses a high risk of reoffending based on his criminal history and classification.

Sims is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 200 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. His record dates back to December 3, 1990, when he pleaded guilty to sexual battery in San Diego County Superior Court, serving 73 days in jail and receiving three years of probation. He has since accumulated multiple convictions for failure to register as a sex offender: in 2001, sentenced to 16 months in prison; in 2017, sentenced to three years; and in 2019, sentenced to another 16 months, all in California. These repeated failures to register highlight a pattern of noncompliance, increasing concerns about his potential threat to the community, particularly in a busy area like South Walnut Avenue, near schools and family neighborhoods.

Sims is not currently wanted by the YCSO, but residents are encouraged to stay vigilant. The YCSO emphasizes that this information should not be used to harass or intimidate Sims, as such actions are illegal and will not be tolerated. If you have information about criminal activity involving Sims or any other offender, please contact the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office at 928-783-4427.

An informed community is a safer one—let’s use this knowledge responsibly to protect Yuma while respecting legal boundaries.
