Bridgeport teen shot on Union Avenue

Bridgeport, Connecticut– A Bridgeport shooting left a 14-year-old resident injured on March 22, 2025, in the 700 block of Union Avenue, according to the Bridgeport Police Department. The incident occurred around 5:10 p.m., setting off two ShotSpotter activations. This gunshot detection system alerts police to gunfire within a minute, pinpointing the location for a rapid response.

The Bridgeport shooting happened on a Saturday evening in a residential area. At about 5:40 p.m., Bridgeport Hospital notified the Bridgeport Police Emergency Operations Center that the teen had arrived at their Emergency Department with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. He was dropped off in a private vehicle, which police later found abandoned on Mill Hill Avenue.

Uniformed officers hurried to the hospital to start their investigation. The Detective Bureau took charge soon after, gathering evidence from both Mill Hill Avenue and the 700 block of Union Avenue. The Forensic Identification Unit is analyzing these items, which could offer key insights into the Bridgeport shooting.

The Crime Gun Intelligence Team is leading the investigation and pursuing strong leads. However, no suspect has been identified, and the motive is still unknown. Police say no further information is available at this time.
