Peoria crash investigation

PEORIA, Illinois — Peoria Police arrested 39-year-old Theron T. Seiber following a Peoria crash investigation that uncovered his brief flight from the scene and possession of cannabis, authorities reported Monday. The two-vehicle collision, first detailed on March 14, 2025, at Forrest Hill and North Knoxville, left one driver critically injured.

Officers responded at 9:25 a.m. Friday to the crash site, where emergency crews found both vehicles with significant damage. The adult male driver of the first vehicle was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Seiber, the second driver, had minor injuries. Police closed northbound and southbound lanes between Forrest Hill and West Memorial Drive until the scene was cleared.

An update on March 17 provided key developments in the Peoria crash investigation. Police discovered Seiber fled the scene before returning shortly after. A search along his path revealed several bags of cannabis, leading to his arrest for possession of cannabis after an interview at the Peoria Police Department. He was booked into Peoria County Jail. The case, PPD Incident #25-4544, remains under investigation.

No conflicting reports have surfaced, though gaps persist: the injured driver’s identity and condition, the crash’s cause, and the cannabis amount are undisclosed. No prior incidents at the intersection were noted in the update.

Peoria Police underscored their ongoing efforts. “We’re committed to a thorough Peoria crash investigation to understand all circumstances,” a spokesperson said via social media.
