PRESCOTT, Arizona — The Prescott Police Department’s Community Services Section conducted a weeklong undercover operation, culminating on April 16, 2025, to address criminal sexual behavior in public spaces. The operation targeted Acker Park at 400 South Virginia Street and the adjacent Odd Fellows Cemetery, areas known for recent concerns about inappropriate activities. The effort resulted in the arrest of seven male suspects, ranging in age from 50 to 86 years old, for public sexual indecency and loitering.
During the operation, officers witnessed the suspects engaging in sexual acts in the park and cemetery. Additionally, three of the suspects approached undercover officers and solicited them to perform sexual acts, leading to their arrests. All seven were booked into the Yavapai County Jail on misdemeanor charges and have been trespassed from all City of Prescott parks, a measure to prevent future incidents in these community spaces.
The Prescott Police Department emphasized that such behavior will not be tolerated in public parks, which are meant to be safe spaces for all residents. They are committed to aggressively enforcing laws against criminal activity in these areas and will continue to focus on park safety. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious or criminal behavior by calling the non-emergency line at 928-445-3131, or 911 in emergencies, to help maintain a secure environment for everyone.
