Page Police arrest two with 900 fentanyl pills

PAGE, Arizona — Page Police arrested two people earlier this week after a traffic stop near Coppermine Road and State Route 98 uncovered over 900 illegal fentanyl pills, along with heroin and methamphetamine, the Page Police Department reported. Canine Officer Nick Aulston initiated the stop for multiple traffic violations and suspected the occupants—one a Page resident—were involved in drug activity.

Officer Anthony Harris arrived to assist, and Aulston deployed Page PD’s drug-certified canine, Bacon, who alerted to the presence of illegal drugs. A search of the vehicle confirmed the suspicion, revealing the massive stash of fentanyl pills, suspected to be headed for sale in and around Page, plus quantities of heroin and meth. Both occupants were booked on felony drug charges related to the investigation. Police emphasized that all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in court.

The bust is a big deal in Page, a small town of about 7,500 near Lake Powell, where drug trafficking can hit hard. Fentanyl’s especially deadly—one pill can kill almost instantly, as police warned, urging parents to talk to their kids about the risks. Arizona’s seen a surge in fentanyl overdoses—over 1,900 deaths in 2023, per the Arizona Department of Health Services, with rural areas like Page increasingly targeted by traffickers. The Page Police arrest highlights their efforts to keep drugs off the streets, and they’re asking for tips at 928-645-2463.
