Marana Police seek to identify Harbor Freight shoplifting suspects

MARANA, Arizona — Marana Police are asking for the public’s help to identify two individuals linked to multiple shoplifting incidents at Harbor Freight, as announced on April 3, 2025. The suspects are connected to a series of thefts, with the case referenced as #2503-1298, though specific details about the stolen items or dates of the incidents were not disclosed in the initial release.

The Marana Police Department has a history of tackling retail theft in the area, often relying on community assistance to identify suspects. For instance, in 2023, they sought suspects who shoplifted from a Walmart at AZ Pavilions, and in 2022, they investigated similar thefts at a Safeway, according to local news reports from KOLD and KGUN 9. These cases often involve organized efforts—earlier this year, on March 22, 2025, Marana Police reported another shoplifting case at a Safeway on 9100 N. Silverbell Road, where a large amount of alcohol was stolen, also part of a broader pattern of thefts. While it’s unclear if the Harbor Freight suspects are connected to the Safeway case, the recurrence of such incidents in Marana suggests a persistent challenge with retail crime, possibly driven by economic pressures or resale markets.

Marana, a town of about 50,000 northwest of Tucson, has seen its retail sector grow, but with that growth comes increased vulnerability to theft. Harbor Freight, a tool and equipment retailer, may be a target due to the high resale value of its products, a trend seen in other shoplifting cases like the 2018 Walmart theft of $1,000 worth of goods by a mother-son duo, as reported by KVOA. The Marana Police are urging anyone with information to call 520-382-2000, referencing case #2503-1298, to help curb this ongoing issue.
