Indian man arrested in Bangladesh for child sexual assault

CUMILLA, Bangladesh — Tajindar Singh, a 50-year-old Indian citizen, was arrested on March 20, 2025, in Daudkandi upazila after allegedly attempting to sexually assault a nine-year-old girl by luring her with chocolate, police confirmed to The Business Standard. The Indian man arrested in Bangladesh for child sexual assault made his move that morning at a rented house in Raipur Singula village, a quiet spot turned upside down by the incident.

Singh hails from Basipatthana village in Chandigarh, Punjab, India, and had been working as an engineer at Agro Ambus Limited’s factory in Mohammadpur, Daudkandi for years. He’d settled into a rented place in Singula village, blending into the area—until Thursday. There, he dangled candy to draw the girl into his room, where he touched her inappropriately, according to Officer-in-Charge Md. Junayet Chowdhury of Daudkandi Model Police Station. A second child spotted the act and raced to tell the victim’s mother, setting off a chain reaction.

Furious locals stormed in, grabbed Singh, and held him until police arrived. Chowdhury, alongside Md. Aminul Islam from Gauripur Police Investigation Center and army support, swept onto the scene, hauled Singh to the station, and charged him under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. He faced court and now sits in jail

Just a week earlier, on March 13, a disturbing child rape case was reported in Magura, according to The Business Standard. The rising frequency of such crimes globally remains a grave concern.
