FLORENCE, South Carolina — The Florence County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect involved in a shooting that occurred Monday morning.
Deputies responded to a report of a shooting on Cherise Court in Florence, South Carolina, where they found a victim who was later transported to a local hospital for treatment. A brief manhunt ensued in the area of National Cemetery Road and Freedom Boulevard but was suspended after investigators failed to locate the suspect.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 31-year-old Amir Marques Brewington. Brewington is described as a Black male, approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing around 219 pounds. The FCSO warned that Brewington should be considered armed and dangerous and advised the public not to approach him.
Investigators are urging anyone with information about Brewington’s whereabouts to contact the FCSO at (843) 665-2121, ext. 80175, or submit a tip through the free FCSO app available on Apple and Android devices. Tips can also be made anonymously through Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee by calling 1-888-CRIME-SC. A cash reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
The condition of the victim and the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. The FCSO has not released additional details, including the motive or the relationship between the suspect and the victim.
