Sunny Sramek Missing Since 2019 With FBI Reward Offered

TRENTON, Nebraska — Sunny Jone Sramek, an 18-year-old from Trenton, Nebraska, vanished on April 20, 2019, after leaving for a trip to Omaha with a man in a 2004 white Ford Explorer bearing Iowa plates HGJ341. Now, six years later, on May 1, 2025, her case remains open, with the FBI offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to her recovery or the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Sunny was last seen wearing denim shorts, a black tank top, and carrying a hoodie and jeans, leaving behind a community desperate for answers.

Sunny is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 183 pounds at the time, with brown hair and blue eyes. She has distinctive tattoos: a feather with “FLY” on her left shoulder and a red tribal sun on her right ankle. She also bears multiple scars, including a rectangular one on her right shoulder, a small square scar on her forehead, chickenpox scars on her face, cuts on her arm, a scar on her left hand near her thumb, and bike pedal scars on her ankle and shin. These features could be key to identifying her. The man she left with, later identified as Floyd Clifford Coates, 42, has a criminal history involving drugs, weapons, battery, and false imprisonment across Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska, raising suspicions of foul play.

Coates claimed they stopped at the Prairie Flower Casino in Carter Lake, Iowa, where Sunny, underage at 18, stayed in the car while he went inside from 9:00 p.m. to midnight. He said she was gone when he returned and that he left without reporting her missing. He later changed his story, saying she disappeared after a gas station stop in Omaha. The vehicle was recovered, but Sunny remains missing. In 2024, Coates faced new charges, including evidence tampering and drug and weapons offenses, though it’s unclear if these are directly tied to Sunny’s case. The inconsistencies in his story and his criminal background cast doubt on his account, yet no arrests have been made in connection to her disappearance. The FBI’s involvement and reward, last updated in 2023, reflect the case’s severity, but the lack of progress suggests potential gaps in the investigation, such as limited surveillance at the casino or gas station, or challenges in tracking Coates’s movements.

If you have any information about Sunny Sramek’s whereabouts, please contact the FBI Omaha Division at 402-493-8688. Every tip could bring her family closer to closure after six years of uncertainty.

The Trenton community continues to hold out hope. Let’s share Sunny’s story and help uncover the truth she deserves.
