CROWNPOINT, New Mexico — The Navajo Police Department Crownpoint District is urgently seeking the public’s help to locate 15-year-old Kara Nez, who has been missing since April 20, 2025. Nez was last seen walking into the woods with a 21-year-old male, later leaving in a 2024 black Nissan Altima with temporary tags, possibly headed toward Phoenix, Arizona. Her last known location was at a Taco Bell in Window Rock, raising concerns about her safety given the circumstances of her departure.
Kara Nez is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds, with brown eyes and blonde/strawberry hair. She was last seen wearing a red zip-up hoodie with goth or death metal band insignia, and she wears glasses. Nez has self-inflicted scars on both arms, which could aid in identifying her. The involvement of an older male and the fact that she was last seen entering the woods before leaving in a vehicle adds a layer of concern, especially considering the potential for coercion or foul play, as often seen in similar cases involving vulnerable teens. Her entry into the National Crime Information Center underscores the seriousness of the situation.
If you have any information about Kara Nez’s whereabouts, please contact the Navajo Police Department Crownpoint District at 505-786-2050 or 505-786-2051. Every tip could be critical in ensuring her safe return, particularly given the five-day gap since her last sighting.
The Crownpoint community’s role is vital in this search. Let’s unite to help find Kara Nez and bring her back to her family safely.
