SACATON, Arizona — A joint operation between the Gila River Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service led to the arrest of four individuals with outstanding warrants on April 21, 2025, within the Gila River Indian Community. The focused warrant detail targeted absconders from justice, resulting in the apprehension of three community members and one non-member wanted for serious crimes, including assault, kidnapping, sexual assault, and homicide. This operation marks a significant step toward enhancing safety in the Gila River Indian Community.
The arrests included one person with a probation violation tied to an assault charge, another wanted on a tribal warrant for assault and facing arraignment for kidnapping, sexual assault, and sexual assault of a minor, a third linked to a homicide involving a community member, and a fourth with a probation violation for a weapons offense. Gila River Chief of Police Jesse Crabtree emphasized the importance of the operation, stating, “Every arrest made in this operation represents a step forward to a safer community. Removing violent offenders from our streets not only brings justice to victims, but it also sends a clear message that criminal behavior will not be tolerated.” Crabtree also expressed pride in his officers and gratitude for the partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service.
