ELOY, Arizona — On April 6, 2025, Eloy Police Department officers responded to a shooting at Park Vista Apartments, 401 N. D St., around 10:45 p.m. Officers discovered a juvenile male with a gunshot wound to the neck, stemming from an accidental discharge. The victim had left the scene in a vehicle but was located during a traffic stop at Sunshine Boulevard and Elm Street. He was transported to a Phoenix hospital and has since been released.
A preliminary investigation revealed the juvenile had accidentally shot himself while handling a firearm. Further investigation by the Eloy Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit confirmed the incident occurred at the residence, leading to the recovery of multiple firearms and related evidence. The juvenile, identified as a prohibited possessor, was arrested on April 9, 2025, on charges of Weapons Misconduct and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm. He was booked into the Pinal County Juvenile Detention Center.
The juvenile’s mother was also arrested for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and booked into Pinal County Jail. Chief Sergio Banales emphasized the dangers of illegal firearm possession and the importance of responsible gun ownership, crediting the quick response of officers and detectives in removing illegal firearms from the community. The investigation remains ongoing.
