Buckeye teen impounded for reckless driving

BUCKEYE, Arizona — Buckeye Police Department impounded a 14-year-old’s dirt bike for 20 days after catching him driving recklessly in a school zone near Inca Elementary School on March 26, 2025. The officer, on traffic duty during school dismissal, clocked the teen speeding in the 15 mph zone and then jumping onto the sidewalk to pass slower cars—right as kids were heading out for the day.

The unlicensed driver got slapped with tickets for speeding, no driver’s license, no insurance, and no vehicle registration. His bike got towed, and he’s without it for nearly three weeks. This went down in a busy spot near 35th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road, where Inca Elementary sits—a place already packed with parents and kids during pick-up time.

Buckeye Police stressed how dangerous this was, noting school zones are chaotic enough without reckless stunts like this putting walkers and drivers at risk. They thanked the community for those who drive carefully around schools, especially in a growing city like Buckeye, where the population’s jumped 30% since 2020 to over 105,000, bringing more traffic to spots like this. If you see unsafe driving, they’re asking folks to report it to 623-349-6411.
